WinTasks will allow you to stop or block the majority of processes listed; however some processes are protected and cannot be manipulated in anyway. There are two main reasons for this.
First of all a selection of system processes are locked and cannot be changed for safety reasons by WinTasks. Such examples are the system processes marked in red by WinTasks which are important to the system's operation.
Secondly there are some processes, such as antivirus which will reject any manipulation of the process since viruses target them and try to terminate them on installation.
